- TEEN BATH MAKEOVER...AN "AFTER" VIEW FROM THE DOOR
-
- That little girl is now a teen-ager, and her poorly-designed bathroom is a disaster. The whirlpool tub can't make up for the lack of a shower, limited storage space and poor lighting. Start with the overlooking loft and good daylighting and ...
- A "BEFORE" VIEW FROM THE DOOR
-
- The challenge with this bath was the oddly-shaped room. You can
see that this was a quality bath, but the space is not used well.
Better to view the tub from the door than the toilet, but not such a cozy
feel for the tub. Whirlpool tubs are nice, but a shower is a
necessity.
- AN "AFTER" VIEW FROM INSIDE THE DOOR
-
Actually the door had to move to the left, but we found room to tuck the
standard size tub inside a half-wall. Marble surround protects the wall from
splashes, and the half-wall is topped with it. To the left is a linen
closet, a really nice addition to a bath. Recessed can lights over the
tub provide a clean look.
- SAVE MONEY BY REFINISHING THE VANITY
-
- The vanity, seen in its location "before", will be refinished and
reused. The top was replaced with marble top. The artwork
disappeared before the renovation, and has not been seen since.
- VANITY, VANITY, WHO IS THE FAIREST?
-
- Why, this yellow bath, of course! The relocated toilet and vanity sit opposite the tub. When space does not permit a separate water closet, a half-wall gives 3 degrees of separation. Note shower, seen in detail next image.
- SHOWER THE PEOPLE YOU LOVE...
-
- James Taylor would like this shower. Shower surround is low-maintenance marble--no grout to clean or leak. The shower light is really a porch light. Bit of a nautical feel! A sliding bar allows the handheld shower to attach and work as a regular shower, with variable height.
- COME OUT OF THE CLOSET, BUT COME CLEAN!
-
- Teenagers are known for long showers and messy closets, so this might be too comfortable! Placing this closet challenged us, but how useful. The white modular open shelving comes in handy here. Essential access to the back of the shower valve is through the closet wall. Right of the closet door is the bathroom door where we started.
