Can you think of a more elegant backdrop than a wall of books for long conversations with interesting people in comfortable chairs?
FOOLING THE EYE CAN BE A GOOD THING...
These only look like custom bookshelves. Actually they were made off-site, in 24" and 30" widths, painted, attached to the walls, then finish molding was applied and
finished. Shoe molding completes the look.
THE LIMITS OF THE OPEN-DOOR POLICY
These cases feature 10" deep shelving on the top and 16" deep cabinets on the bottom. This way you can have some messy shelves and no one will see them! Almost works for an entertainment system, but you really need at least 20" for that. Cases are finished at the bottom with baseboard that matches the room.
WHEN IS A SHELF NOT A SHELF?
When it is a half-wall, of course. These are site-built cases with
adjustable shelves. Extending the baseboard to wrap the shelving unit
anchors it in the room. Behind the shelves is the stairway mentioned
in the next image.
THE LIGHT IS NOT ALWAYS AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL
The light is in the casework here, featuring adjustable glass shelves to
show off your finest. Doors will enclose the lower portion of the case, and
hide the transformer for the lights. This is the view at the bottom of the
stairs mentioned in the previous image.
WHEN THE SKY IS NOT THE LIMIT...
Try leaving that old vanity and replace the doors and drawer fronts. So much of the cost of vanity replacement is in the plumbing, so leaving the vanity can save a lot. You'll need it, because bath remodels are expensive! Yes, this is the before image.
WOOD SURE WARMS UP A ROOM!
Love those Shaker-style cabinet doors and drawers! The medicine cabinets are surface-mounted on the horizontal 1x4's, because studs were not where they needed to be for secure mounting. Left unpainted, the boards fit well with the white walls and natural wood tones. Notice the new Craftsman-style lights, surprisingly affordable at Lowe's.
WHEN ONLY THE FINEST WILL DO
Certain of your books require the finest bookcases. For those whose budgets permit and tastes demand the best, we will design and craft furniture-grade bookcases. We have a weakness for Shaker and Arts and Crafts styles, as you can see.
